THE seminar on capacity build­ing for the development of in­dustries and industrial zones was held yesterday morning at the SME Centre on Kyaik­wine Pagoda Road, Mayangon Township, Yangon Region. Un­ion Minister for Industry and MSME Development Dr Charlie Than attended the event virtu­ally from the meeting room in Office 30.

 

The Union minister first stated that he believed the sem­inar would support the imple­mentation of the development of industries and industrial zones in accordance with the enacted Industrial Zone Laws and Rules, based on the current situation.

 

Subsequently, capaci­ty-building matters for the de­velopment of private industries and industrial zones were dis­cussed, and the ceremony was concluded.

 

Afterwards, the Union min­ister received a delegation led by Mr Sergey A Kopylov, Deputy Director-General of Tyazhprom­export Co Ltd (TPE) of the Rus­sian Federation, at the ministry.

 

During the meeting, they discussed the procedures re­quired for the earliest possible commissioning of the Heat Re­covery Power Station (HRPS) at the No 2 Steel Mill (Pangpet) project, issues concerning as­sistance from the Government of the Russian Federation for the resumption of operations at the smelting workshop us­ing the Romelt process, and matters related to negotiating, amending, and signing contrac­tual terms and conditions in line with project requirements. — MNA/TH
