Border trade between Myanmar and India as of 15 March, in this fiscal, reached US$ 85.8 million, an increase in value by $34.77 million over this time last year, according to statistics provided by the Ministry of Commerce.
During the same period last year, India-Myanmar bilateral trade was $51.051 million in total. Myanmar’s exports to the Republic of India are greater than its imports.
The two countires use the Tamu and Reed border trade camps to deliver good commercially.
During the period, the bilateral trade value through the Tamu gate totaled $40.9 million, whereas the Reed station handled goods amount to $44.92 million.
From 1 October through 16 March this year, the trade value from all borders reached $4.5 billion, including by $293 million from this time last year.
A wide variety of goods, covering human hair, medicines, oil cakes, electorinc devices, motorbikes, cotton yarn, non-alloy steel, areca nuts, ginger, saffron, turmeric, bay leaves and other herbal plants, fruits and vegetables are marketable at borders.—Zwe (Translated by Hay Mar)
