UNDER the supervision of the Illegal Trade Eradication Steering Committee, relevant departments are taking effective action in accordance with the law to prevent and suppress illegal trade across the country.

 

A combined inspection team under the management of Illegal Trade Eradication Task Forces conducted inspections from 10 to 12 March. The team seized five unregistered vehicles worth K41.5 million at the Thanlwin Bridge combined checkpoint in Hpa-an Township, industrial materials valued at K1.182 bil­lion without official documents from two warehouses in Hpa-an Township and an unregistered vehicle valued at K16 million at the Yadanabon bridge combined checkpoint in Sagaing Township. Authorities took action under the Export and Import Law.

 

In Taninthayi and Bago Regions, the combined on-duty teams conducted the inspections from 8 to 11 March and confiscat­ed illegal timbers worth K607,256 and an unregistered motorbike valued at K6.5 million in Dawei Township, an unregistered vehi­cle and three unregistered mo­torbikes valued at K19.1 million in Ottwin, Thayawady, Minhla and Shwedaung townships and illegal teak and timbers worth K1.141 million in Ottwin, Dai­kU, Nyaunglebin and Kyaukdaga townships. The action was taken under the Forest Law and the Export and Import Law.

 

Moreover, inspections were conducted on 11 March, and elec­tronics and consumer goods worth K117.701 million without official documents were cap­tured at the Ngwepinlal jetty in Kawthoung Township, industrial materials valued at K13 million without official documents from a container at the Thilawa port and electronics valued at K80.80 million without official docu­ments from a container at the Myanmar Industrial port. The action was carried out under the Export and Import Law.

 

During the period from 8 to 12 March, illegal goods and products worth K1.478 billion were seized in 32 cases. — MNA/ MKKS
