Horse racing held in Magway to mark 73rd anniversary of Union Day

A horse racing was held in commemoration of the 73rd anniversary of the Union Day at the pitch ground of Magway FC in Magway this morning. The event is the first of its kind in Magway Region.

Magway Region Chief Minister Dr. Aung Moe Nyo and concerned officials formally opened the competition which is jointly organized by the local government, the Myanmar Equestrian Federation, and Magway Region Equestrian Association. First, the cheering squad and contestants saluted the chief minister and guests. Next, the chief minister delivered an address and the advocate-general, and President of the region’s equestrian association explained the purpose of the event.

Afterwards, Chairman of Myanmar Traditional Equestrian Committee U Zaw Lin Oo clarified rules to be followed by the contestants. Then President of Popular Plastic Group and Vice-Chairman -1 of the Myanmar Equestrian Federation U Kyin Oo donated Ks. 2 million and Managing Director of Ko Ko Toke Co., Ltd and owner of Henry’s Farm equestrian club U Thiha presented a horse tack produced in the United States to the chief minister.
 

After that, contestants demonstrated horse racing techniques. The event is categorized into four types and runs from 10 to 12 February on a grand scale.—Than Naing Oo (Ngaphe)
