US authorities say a man has opened fire at a university in the state of North Carolina, killing two people and wounding four others.
Police say they took into custody a 22-year-old man who allegedly carried out the shooting on Tuesday at the University of North Carolina's Charlotte campus.
Police say three of the four wounded are in critical condition. There were reportedly many students on the campus. The two dead have not been identified.
Local media say the suspect is a former student of the university.
Police are investigating his motive and background.
