GENEROUS donors, includ­ing film actors and actresses, initially donated about K400 million to the Khaing Hnin Wai Foundation to help people affected by natural disasters, according to actress Khaing Hnin Wai.

The foundation, which has earmarked K100 million to as­sist people affected by natural disasters, invited other organ­izations to collaborate on dona­tion efforts starting 28 March.

Actress Khaing Hnin Wai stated: “To help those in need due to natural disasters, the Khaing Hnin Wai Foundation has allocated a fund of K100 million. Additionally, actress Wut Hmone Shwe Yi donated K30 million; actor Nay Toe and actress Ei Chaw Po, and actress Naw Phaw Eh Htar donated K10 million each. Furthermore, actor and singer May La Than Zin contributed K6 million, singer Hlwan Paing K5 mil­lion, singer Ye Lay K3 million, and actress Yu Thandar Tin K5 million. Other singers and ac­tors have also made donations, bringing the total to approx­imately K80 million. Around K400 million has been donated by other generous individuals”.

The donation of approxi­mately K400 million will be used to provide food, essential sup­plies, and financial assistance in Sagaing and Mandalay.

Last year, the foundation donated food and cash worth over K3.6 billion to people af­fected by floods nationwide. — ASH/TH
