Fire engulfs 64 houses in Nyaung-U Twsp.

A fire that broke out in Myaung Village in Nyaung-U Township, Mandalay Region at about 10:10 am on 21 February destroyed 64 houses, according to an official from the Township Fire Services Department.

 

The blaze was believed to have started from an ember left in the house of U Aung Lin, and spread to other houses and completely destroyed 64 houses, a generator and other items in the village. In addition, the fire also killed 15 goats and six pigs.

 

34 firemen from the District Fire Service Department rushed to the incident scene to put out the fire in collaboration with the villagers and 20 auxiliary firefighters using four fire engines and four water tankers, and the blaze was brought under control at about 10:50 am and totally extinguished at about 11:35 am.
