On Popa Langur Day, an excursion to Mount Popa National Geopark and the Taungdwinchaung forest camp at Mount Popa will be organized, according to the Mahagiri Group.
Popa Langur Day, designated on 11 November by Mahagiri in collaboration with locals, aims to conserve the rare Popa Langur monkeys – of which only about 300 remain worldwide.
This is the third tour organized by Mahagiri, featuring a visit to the areas inhabited by the Popa Langur at the national geopark and the forest camp. The tour will introduce participants to the monkeys and highlight the importance of biodiversity for the ecosystem.
The excursion aims to foster a love for nature, and interested participants can join for free.
Lunch will be provided, and visitors can stay overnight at the forest camp. While dinner and breakfast for the following day must be prepared on their own at the base camp, said Mahagiri. — MT/ZS
