Electrification ratio of Sagaing Region reaches 44%

The 178.56 miles long 230-KV Nabar-Shwebo-Ohndaw cable powerline and the 230/33/11KV 100 AVA Shwebo main sub-power station in Shwebo, Sagain Region, erected by the Department of Power Transmission and System Control (DPTSC) of the Ministry of Electricity and Energy was commissioned into service yesterday morning.

Speaking at the inauguration ceremony, Union Minister for Electricity and Energy U Win Khaing said the 178.56 miles long 230-KV Nabar-Shwebo-Ohndaw cable powerline and the 230/33/11KV 100 AVA Shwebo main sub-power station were built to supply stable current and full voltage of electricity generated by Tapain (1) hydropower plant to Kachin State and Sagaing Region. In so doing, the 75-mile 230KV Bhamo-Nabar powerline, two 230KV sub-power stations in Bhamo and Nabar, 178.56 miles long 230-KV Nabar-Shwebo-Ohndaw line are erected and switch bays extended at Shwebo and Ohndaw sub-power stations. test transmission of 230KV Shwebo-Ohndaw powerline was conducted on 14 November last year. The test transmission proved stable current flow to Shwebo town, Shwebo industrial zone, YeU and KhinU townships and Katha, Shwegu, Htigyaint, Bhanmauk, Indaw, Mawlu, Mogaing, Moenyin.

The 75-mile 230KV Bhamo-Nabar powerline, 230/220/11KV (2×100) MVA, 110/66KV 50MVA sub-power station and 230/66/11KV (2×50)MVA sub-power station will complete this month end to link the power produced by Tapain (1) hydropower plant with national grid. The opening of 230KV Bhamo-Nabar sub-power powerline and sub-power stations will ensure better electricity to towns such as Kamaing, Hpakant and Tanaing,. 132KV Washaung-Waingmaw and 230KV Waingmaw-Nabar powerlines will be installed to improve the current of power supply to Kachin State and upper parts of Sagaing Region.

The Union Minister also elaborated on the extended power supply programs for western part of Sagaing Region including Tamu at the border with India and its surrounding villages, saying the electrification ratio of Sagaing Region has reached 44 percent. It will reach 75 percent in 2021-2022.
Chief Minister of Sagaing Region Dr Myint Naing, President Mr Yu Jun of CCPG company also gave speeches. a resident thanked the government.
