THE Shwe Min Tha Foundation launched its “Building Bridges by Breaking Barriers” (5B PWDs) scholarship programme for the 2026-27 academic year on 16 June, aiming to advance educational equity and empower students with disabilities across Myanmar.

Administered alongside disability advocacy groups, the scholarship targets Myanmar students with disabilities facing financial hardship. The fund supports secondary students (Grades 8-12) with K180,000 monthly for nine months. For higher education, regular university students receive K200,000 per month, while distance-learning students receive a total package of K600,000 paid out in two instalments.

Due to limited availability, eligible students with disabilities are urged to submit their applications promptly. Detailed requirements and criteria are available on the official SMTF social media page.

The application window is open from 16 June through 3 July. — TWA/ZS
