Desks donated to flood-hit schools in Kyaikmaraw

Kyaikmaraw, 16 September

Some houses were damaged and 72 schools closed temporarily due to floodwaters from the Attayan River following heavy rains in Kyaikmaraw Township since 9 August.

Now all closed schools in the township reopened. A ceremony to donate desks, carpets and cash to 48 schools out of 72 was held at Shwe Hintha Hall of the General Administration Department in Kyaikmaraw Township this morning. At the ceremony, Mon State Minister for Kayin Ethnic Affairs U Saw Aung Myint Khaing clarified the purpose of donating desks and Township Education Officer U Ngwe Win explained matters relating to the flooded schools.
