A US passenger plane crashed and flipped on its back while trying to land at an international airport in Canada. All 80 people on board were able to evacuate from the aircraft, but eighteen were reportedly injured.
Delta Airlines says the passenger jet is operated by one of its subsidiaries. It reports that the plane crashed at Toronto's Pearson Airport on Monday afternoon. The jet was arriving from the US Midwestern city of Minneapolis.
Details of the incident remain unknown, but video footage shows the overturned aircraft lying on the snow-covered ground with its primary wing severely damaged.
It also shows fire engines spraying water on the aircraft and people, who appear to be passengers, escaping from an exit.
Delta Airlines officials say 18 people were injured and transported to hospitals. Media outlets in Canada report that three individuals were injured severely.
The airport was closed temporarily following the incident.
