Confiscated illegal items: Timbers, medications, consumer goods, and vehicles

A combined team under the management of the Ayeyawady Region Illegal Trade Eradication Task Force impounded a total of 1.737 tonnes of illegal wood worth K142,428 near Malatto village in Maubin township on 28 October. The action was taken under the Forest Law.

On the same day, a combined team under the supervision of the Mandalay Region Illegal Trade Eradication Task Force nabbed six kinds of medicines worth K12.38 million, including 80 phials of Bevac vaccine and 90 boxes of Abhayrab rabies vaccine without registration with the Ministry of Health, in Aungmyaythazan township. The action was taken in accordance with respective procedures.

The on-duty teams made inspections on 30 October and seized four kinds of goods worth K1.62 million, including 10 cartons of Hehua cigarettes without official documents from luggage, at the Yangon International Airport (Import Desk) and two unregistered vehicles – Nissan AD Van and Toyota Mark II – in Kyauktaga township of Toungoo district. The action was taken under Customs procedures and the Export and Import Law.

On 31 October, the combined teams captured an unregistered Canda motorbike worth K300,000 in Naungpoaung village in Homalin township and a total of 9.741 tonnes of illegal wood worth K768,546 in Gwa township of Thandwe district. The action was taken under the Export and Import Law and the Forest Law.

A total of eight arrests were made on 28, 30 and 31 October, with an estimated value of K26,210,974, as reported by the Illegal Trade Eradication Steering Committee. — MNA/MKKS
