China sends 2,000 buses to Venezuela

Venezuelan President Nicolas Maduro says he will use 2,000 buses sent from China to help improve public transportation.

The South American country is falling deeper into an economic crisis amid the standoff between the embattled Maduro and opposition leader Juan Guaido.

Power outages have stopped train services and gasoline shortages make it difficult to use cars.

The United States has put Maduro's son on a sanctions list, while China and Russia support the president.

Maduro apparently made the disclosure about China's aid to show that he has backing from the world's second-largest economy.

The United Nations says four million Venezuelans have fled the country since the political turmoil began.
