THE Chin State Investment and Product Fair will be held on 16 and 17 March at the Myanmar Convention Centre in Yangon, according to the Myanmar Investment Commission (MIC).

The fair is being mainly organized by the MIC and the Chin State government, with support from the DaNa Facility, Chin State Chambers of Commerce and Industry, and VDB Loi, said U Aung Naing Oo, the secretary of the MIC.

The Chin State Investment and Product Fair aims to promote investment, build a network between foreign and local entrepreneurs, and explore market opportunities for Chin products.

“The objective behind the fair is not only to boost investments, but also introduce potential products from Chin State,” said U Aung Naing Oo.

The fair includes investment seminars, business matching and product shows, featuring Chin traditional costumes, fruits, coffee, etc. A traditional dance performance will be included in the fair, said U Aung Naing Oo.

Foreign ambassadors to Myanmar, local and foreign business corporations, international organizations, local and foreign banks, and entrepreneurs will be invited to explore business opportunities and products of Chin State at the fair. All participations are required to complete registration at https://www.chinstatefair2019.com/ by 11 March.

Transportation difficulties and lack of adequate infrastructure, such as electricity, are the main challenges for Chin State in attracting investors. As of the 2017-2018 fiscal year, zero investment was registered in the state.

In the last mini-budget period, the Mercy Par Company was approved by the Chin State Directorate of Investment and Company Administration to operate a hotel business in the state, with a pledged amount of K833.42 million.
