Cane, bamboo handicrafts to be on display at hotels, motels and guesthouses in Ayeyawady Region

The handicrafts which are made of cane and bamboo will be displayed at the hotels, motels and guesthouses in Ayeyawady Region for the coming tourist season, according to U Aung Thu Oo, director of the region Directorate of Hotels and Tourism.

The display and sale of handicrafts made of cane, bamboo, water hyacinth, mudra and coconut at these hotels, motels and guesthouses in the region can create a tourist attraction and contribute to the development of tourism.

“We will instruct the hotels to use the cane and bamboo handicrafts to attract the travellers in the coming tourist season and we also arrange to sell the products,” he said.

Moreover, in addition to the handmade crafts, the Ayeyawady Paw San rice and other local foodstuffs of the region will be sold in fine packaging.

The Ayeyawady Region boasts Ngwesaung and Chaungtha beaches and famous pagodas and so it hosted over 1.1million local and foreign travellers between January and September this year.

The government also makes efforts to supply electricity to the hotels, motels and guesthouses using solar, wind and hydropower. — ASH/KTZH
