Trade between Myanmar and its four neighbour-ing countries has reached US$8.9 billion as of 9 Au-gust, this financial year, according to the Ministry of Commerce.
The country’s export via border gates amount-ed to $ 6.2 billion while its import shared $ 2.65 billion.
This fiscal year’s fig-ures increased by $1.14 billion compared to the same period of last FY when it showed $ 7.7 bil-lion.
Muse topped the list of border checkpoints with the most trade val-ue of $4.3 billion, followed by Htikhi with $2.14 bil-lion and Myawady with $ 824million.
Myanmar shares borders with Bangla-desh, China, India and Thailand. Myanmar has 17 border trade centers: Muse, Lweje, Chin-shwehaw, Kanpikete, Kengtung, Techilek, Myawady, Kawthoung, Myeik, Nabule/Htikhi, Mawtaung, Maese, Sit-twe, Maungdaw, Tamu, Reik, Htantalan.
The country’s agri-cultural products, ani-mal products, fisheries, minerals and forest prod-ucts are mainly export-ed, while capital goods, intermediate goods and consumer goods are im-ported. — GNLM (Translated by Hay Mar)
