Be a powerful economic drive for the nation

June 22

THE prosperity of the nation and the food sufficiency are the main themes for modernizing the country. It is because the food supply is essential for the survival of every citizen. Hence, the government set up the aforesaid themes as the national visions of the State.

In order to accomplish the national vision, both government and people are to make all-out efforts for raising the productivity in order to develop the State economy. As the military might and the security might are based on the economic might, the economic strength is the most crucial for the nation.

Being an agro-based country, Myanmar has been still striving for improvement of agriculture and livestock farms since yore to supply food to the people. Hence, Myanmar has never been facing famine till today. Depending on the climatic conditions, the high per-acre yield of crops is sufficient for all the people.

Indeed, Myanmar is located on fertile soil and good water sources. However, the paces of the government cannot totally turn to development tasks of the nation due to the outbreak of COVID-19 and occurrences of armed conflicts. Consequently, the country cannot enjoy the deserved development of the economy.

Actually, if the agriculture and livestock farms can be improved with modern techniques combined with the invaluable experiences of the local farmers to order to produce marketable crops and manufacture the increased products, it is sure that the country would have economic growth. As such, not only the government but the people strive to surge the economy at the township, district, region/state and national levels, and the country will secure achievement in all sectors.

Local farmers need to consider how to increase per-acre yield of crops and how to improve the quality of corps on their farms. Likewise, they should uphold a concept to distribute the quality strains of crops to other farmers so as to raise the production volume of crops which will bring food sufficiency for all the people as well as the chance to export the surplus volume of crops to earn incomes.

All authorities and farmers need to join hands in increasing per-acre yield of crops, availability of quality strains of crops and modern agricultural techniques in the cultivation of paddy, various edible oil crops, pulses and beans. Only when the production of agricultural produce volume is high will the whole nation have food sufficiency as well as a high capacity for the economic drive. GNLM
