IN January, Bago Region approved an investment of US$5.651 million to increase foreign investment, creating job opportunities for 1,000 local work­ers, according to the Bago Region Gov­ernment.

 

This investment increase in for­eign investment within the region was approved during the Bago Region In­vestment Committee’s 1/2025 Meeting. The approval allowed Cobes Industries (BII) Company Limited to expand its production to include 23 types of surgi­cal and healthcare-related equipment.

 

Additionally, during the same meeting, other decisions were made in line with laws and procedures. These included changes in shares and amend­ments to the import item codes for foreign-invested companies.

 

Between 1 February 2021 and 11 January 2025, the total investment in Bago Region from both foreign and do­mestic investors reached $209.022 mil­lion, creating 13,091 job opportunities.

 

The Bago Region Investment Committee continues to approve new domestic and foreign investment pro­jects every month in compliance with laws and regulations to create addi­tional employment opportunities in the region. — ASH/KNN
