IN Week-16 of Myanmar National League play, Ayeyawady United defeated  Dagon  FC  1-0  with  a  single, early minute goal by Nan-da  Lin  Kyaw  Chit  at  the  home  stadium  of  Ayeyawady  United  in Pathein yesterday.

The win allowed Ayeyawady to  maintain  their  standing  near  the top of the  2019 MNL rankings.

Yesterday’s match was excit-ing, as players from both teams played  well.  Ayeyawady  Unit-ed  lined  up  with  keeper  Kyaw  Zin  Phyo,  Ye  Lin  Htet,  Tin  Win  Aung,  Ayng  Kaung  Mann,  Zaw  Min, Nanda Lin Kyaw Chit, Soe Moe  Kyaw,  Kekere  Moukailou,  Akwa  Raphael  Success,  Lwin  Moe Aung and Keith Nah.

Meanwhile, Dagon FC field-ed  keeper  Yan  Aung  Lin,  Kyaw  Kyaw  Htet,  Aye  Ko  Ko  Maung,  Than  Lin  Aung,  Myo  Min  Zaw,  Aung Khine Tun, Zaw Lwin Oo, Nyi  Nyi  Min,  Samuel  Kojo  Ab-bey, Rraore Alassane and Patrick Gilles.  At  the  two  minute  mark,  Ayeyawady  United’s  Nanda  Lin  Kyaw Chit scored the opener.

Down  by  a  goal,  Dagon  FC  mounted a concerted comeback effort to equalize their goal.

But  the  massive  defense  of  Ayeyawady blocked every oppor-tunity created by Dagon strikers.

The  first  half  ended  1-0,  in  favour of Ayeyawady United.

The match was scoreless in the  second  half,  as  both  teams  could not convert numerous op-portunities into goals.

Also, there was Dagon Unit-ed’s colorful tactic, with its open-ing  attack  in  the  second  half,  in  which they played better than in the first half and put more pres-sure  on  their  opponents.  But  Ayeyawady’s defenders blocked every  scoring  opportunity  by  Dagon  FC.  Yesterday’s  win  put  Ayeyawady  United  in  second  place in the league table with 30 points.— Lynn Thit (Tgi)
