Avalanches kill 38 in eastern Turkey

Two avalanches in the eastern Turkish province of Van have killed at least 38 people, including rescue workers.

In the first snowslip on Tuesday, 13 people were rescued while five were confirmed dead.

The second slide occurred on Wednesday, burying many rescue workers.

Interior Minister Suleyman Soylu visited the site and announced that 33 rescuers had died in the second avalanche.

The search for survivors was suspended on Wednesday night due to stormy weather.
