Authorities wipe out 29 acres of poppy fields in Ngape Twsp.

Local authorities destroyed 19 acres of illegally grown poppy plantations in Ngape Township, Magway Region starting from January 7 this year.

 

Police members led by Police Major Sein Thaung from Ngape Police Station are conducting the search operation of illegally grown poppy fields in the Township and destroyed a total of 21.5 acres of 2.3 feet high blooming poppies including 7.5 acres of poppy plantation located near Naung Village, six acers of poppy fields near Tinpyaung Village, two acres of poppy fields near Wan Village, four acres of poppy fields near Pabe Village and two acres of poppy fields near Upper Sein Road in the Township.

 

In a similar incident, local authorities led by Police Capt. Zaw Win destroyed another 7.5 acres of 2.3 feet high blooming poppies including 1.5 acres of poppy fields located near Yaephyu Village, 2.5 acres of poppy fields near Bok Village and 3.5 acres of Poppy plantations near Shaukyin Village in the Township, according to Ngape Police Station.

 

A total of 29 acres of 2.3 feet high blooming poppies have been destroyed by local authorities in the Township so far.—Ma Yu(Ngepe)
