Amyotha Hluttaw Speaker attends centenary of law department at Yangon University

Amyotha Hluttaw Speaker Mahn Win Khaing Than joined the 100th anniversary celebration of law department at the Yangon University yesterday.

The event was held at the Recreation Centre in the campus of university, and it was also attended by Union Chief Justice U Htun Htun Oo, Yangon Region Hluttaw Speaker U Tin Maung Tun, Pro-Rector of Yangon University Dr Omar Kyaw, Professor/Dean of Department of Law Dr Daw Khin Chit Chit, Retired Professor U Hla Aung, Retired Rector Wunna Kyaw Htin Dr Tin Aung Aye, Retired Professor Daw Than Nwe, and Chairman of the 100th anniversary organizing committee U Soe Myint.

At the celebration, the Amyotha Hluttaw Speaker extended greetings as an alumnus of law student from 1970 to 1975 academic year.

He also emphasized the crucial role of law students for rule of law and development of the country. The chairman of ceremony organizing committee presented a gold award to an outstanding female student in the fifth year exam.

On behalf of Commander in Chief of Defence Service Senior General Min Aung Hlaing, Deputy Judge Advocate-General Major General Thaung Naing presented K 3 million, 100 packs of instant coffee and 100 packs of instant tea for the department.

The centenary was also celebrated with paper reading session and dinner party in the university campus.—MNA
