SHAN State Chief Minister U Aung Aung attended the commercial launch ceremony of the Air Separation Plant (ASP), which produces oxygen and nitrogen, at No 2 Steel Mill (Pangpet) in Taunggyi, Shan State, yesterday afternoon.Shan State Chief Minister U Aung Aung unveiled the plant plaque and signboard and toured the plant control room to observe the test operation.
A brief video of the oxygen and nitrogen production workshop was shown, after which the chief minister described the day as a proud milestone for the country and Shan State, highlighting decades of effort to establish the steel factory, the opening of the oxygen and nitrogen plant to support iron smelting, its role in meeting national steel demand, the contributions of foreign and Myanmar engineers, and the factory’s benefits for local development, jobs, and the ongoing completion of two remaining facilities.
Deputy Minister for Industry U Thwin Aung highlighted the trial operation of the oxygen and nitrogen plant at No 2 Steel Mill (Pangpet) as a milestone for Myanmar’s steel sector, highlighting its role in project success, technical transfer for local engineers, safety compliance, Russia-Myanmar cooperation, and ongoing work to complete the remaining facilities on schedule.
Afterward, an official from the Russian Federation gave a presentation on the plant, and the Deputy Minister for Industry presented a commemorative gift to the Chief Minister of Shan State and an honorary gift to the leader of the Russian expert group.
