A ceremony to commemorate the 72nd Martyrs’ Day and to give salute to nine martyrs took place in front of the Bogyoke Aung San Statue in Zawanadipa Ward, Pobbathiri Township, Nay Pyi Taw this morning.
On the occasion, MP U Maung Maung Swe of Amyotha Hluttaw, MP U Yee Mon of Pyithu Hluttaw, Township Administrator, Township departmental personnel, students, NGOs and local residents laid wreath at photos of the nine fallen martyrs and paid salute to them. At 10:37 am, the attendees bowed down to the Myanmar National Flag, Bogyoke Aung San and martyrs and made a two-minute silence tribute. Next, the officials planted a total of 20 trees to mark the 72nd Martyrs’ Day in front of the Bogyoke Park.
On the occasion, the attendees were distributed commemorative pamphlets issued by the Ministry of Information. In addition, students were also provided with stationery by Soe Electric Foundation, according to the Information and Public Relations Department.
