57 more coronavirus cases reported in Magway Region

57 more coronavirus cases were detected in Magway Region on Sunday, bringing the total number of confirmed virus cases in the region to 2,195, according to the Department of Public Health.


There are still people in the region who are free of the virus and are in good health and have been discharged from the hospital. The confirmed virus patients on December 15 were from Myothit, Salin, Magway, Minbu, Yenangyoung, Pakkoku, Hsinbaungwe, Myaing, Gangaw, Aunglan, Chauk, Nhaphe, Sedoktaya and Seikphyu Townships.


A contact tracing process is being conducted to expose people who had close contact with the coronavirus patients. Most of the virus patients are returnees who came back home from Yangon and Mandalay Regions and Rakhine State, said Dr Khin Maung Than, assistant director of the region's Department of Public Health.


Out of 2,195 confirmed covid-19 cases in Magway Region, 1,687 patients were discharged from the hospital, with five deaths.
