According to the records of the District Department of Agricultural Land Management and Statistics, 7,867 acres of monsoon long-staple cotton were planted in Mandalay Region: 4,027 acres in Kyaukse Township, 1,500 acres in Singaing Township, and 2,340 acres in Myittha Township. Out of these, 5,670 acres of monsoon long-staple cotton have been harvested.
The cost of one acre is about 700,000 Kyats, including seeds and inputs, and the most cultivated varieties by farmers are Ngwechi 6, Ngwechi 9, and Indian (Raka) varieties.
The primary cotton-growing villages in Kyaukse District are Kin Village and Kyaukphya Village, Loon Kyaw Village, Dai Village, and Myanady Village in Myittha Township, and Sunye Village and Meethwayphote Village in Singaing Township.
In terms of yield, about 400–500 visses are produced per acre. In the previous year, cotton was priced at K3,300 per viss, cotton wool at K7,300 per viss, cottonseed at K1,400 per viss, and cottonseed oil at K5,500 per viss. As for the current price, cotton is being traded at K3,300 per viss, cotton wool at K8,500 per viss, cottonseed at K1,500 per viss, and cottonseed oil at K7,500 per viss.
