Workshop on putting Thanaka on UNESCO intangible cultural heritage list conducted in Nay Pyi Taw

A workshop on putting Thanaka on UNESCO intangible cultural heritage list was held at the Department of Archaeology and National Museum (Nay Pyi Taw) yesterday.

 

At the ceremony, Deputy Director General of the Department of Archaeology and National Museum U Ko Ko Naing gave remarks and Chairman of expert team for National Intangible Cultural Heritage U Toe Hla clarified the background and history of Thanaka.

 

Then, the attendees discussed how to fill the proposal to put Thanak on UNESCO intangible cultural heritage list. Next, the attendees also discussed the evidences of Myanma Thanaka’s traditional custom, benefits of Thanaka, traditional festival using Thanaka and Thanaka tradition that is relayed by ancestors.
