A woman has died on the spot after a hi-jet hit a tree beside the Minbu-Pwintbyu Road in Pwintbyu Township, Magway Region yesterday afternoon, according to a source from a local police station.
A police squad led by Police Inspector Soe Htay together with eye witnesses went to the scene of the accident. A hi-jet driven by a man named Thein Tun Oo crashed into a tree between mileposts 18/3 and 18/4 on the Minbu-Pwintbyu Road after the driver lost control of the car. A woman from the front seat of the car was killed and the driver seriously injured in the incident.
Action has been taken against the driver who was taken to a public hospital over reckless driving by the local police.—Ye Win Naing
