Weekly update prices of Bayintnaung Commodity Market

Prices of onions, chilli peppers, and black gram decreased in the Yangon market from 27 Septem­ber to 4 October.

 

Rice and garlic are at a low price, while the reference price of palm oil and potatoes has in­creased.

 

Onion

A total of 150,000 visses of onions from various regions en­tered the market on 4 October. The opening prices of onions at Seikphyu and Myibgyan broker­age houses lay at K2,200–K3,100 per viss and K1,900–K2,700 per viss, respectively.

 

The highest price of onions in regional markets stayed firm at K2,500 per viss. The Myingyan market saw a supply of 73,360 visses of onions on 4 October with a price of K1,800–K2,500 per viss.

 

Garlic

On 4 October, Shan gar­lic was priced at K7,300 per viss for S2, K8,000 for S3, K8,200 for S4, and K8,400 for S5 in the Yan­gon market. Kyukok garlic was valued at K7,000 per viss.

 

Potato

The Yangon potato market only published the price of Chi­nese potatoes on 3 October, and the price went up to K2,000 per viss.

 

Although the price of Shan potatoes was not published in de­pots, the prices varied between K500 and K1,200 per viss in some depots, depending on their sizes and qualities.

 

Chilli Pepper

On 4 October, the prices of Eainme and Panye long chilli peppers were priced between K7,000 and K10,000 per viss, while new Pyawbwe Moehtaung, Sinphyukyun and delta region chilli peppers were valued at K11,000-K16,000 per viss, in the Yangon chilli pepper market.

 

Rice

On 4 October, the price per bag of multi-cropped rice was K66,000; the 90-day rice variety stood at K72,000; and the Pawky­we rice variety was priced at K88,000. Pawsan rice variants ranged from K98,000 to K125,000 per bag, depending on the pro­ducing region. The price of low-grade rice dropped below the reference price.

 

Palm Oil

The wholesale reference price of palm oil was K4,390 per viss from 2 to 8 October, increas­ing by K15 per viss compared to the previous week. The price of imported oil per tonne was only US$832.5 on 29 September.

Beans and Pulses

On 3 October, the price of black gram was K2,465,000 per tonne for RC and K2,805,000 per tonne for SQ/RC. Meanwhile, a tonne of pigeon peas was valued at K4,075,000.

 

Additionally, the price of green gram (Kayan Shwewah variety) and Pakokku variety fetched K3,630 and K3,080–K3,250 per viss, respectively, while that of chickpea was K5,900–K6,200 per viss. — TWA/CT
