DR Shwe Hluan, the wife of Vice President U Henry Van Thio, visited Kachin Manaw event at the 2020 edition of Myanmar Ethnics Culture Festival in Yangon yesterday afternoon.
The event was also attended by Union Minister for Ethnic Affairs Nai Thet Lwin and wife, spouses of Union Ministers, Chairman and members of Myanmar Ethnic Entrepreneurs Association and ethnic people at the festival.
The guests and ethnic people participated in Manaw dance in front of Kachin cultural booth.
The five major versions of traditional Manaw dances are Vice President’s wife visits Kachin Manaw celebration in Yangon performed to mark victory for war, success in business, poor health and deaths of elder persons, developing a new land for brothers and demarcating a new area and administration.
Union Minister Nai Thet Lwin also joined Kayah tradition Kaehtobo festival which is intended for good weather, good harvests of crops, free from natural disasters, peace, prosperity, national unity and preservation of traditional culture.
Dr Shwe Hluan, Union Minister Nai Thet Lwin and dignitaries enjoyed Kachin traditional dinner to encourage unity among national people, and they also watched performance of ethnic dance troupes at the main entertainment stage of festival. —MNA
