Union Minister meets int'l organizations

Union Minister Dr Win Myat Aye of the Ministry of Social Welfare, Relief and Resettlement received CEO Mr Taku Sawanobori and officials of Fureasu Co., Ltd, who are jointly cooperating with the Japan Heart, with which the Ministry of Social Welfare, Relief and Resettlement has signed an MOU; he received the UNICEF; he received Mr Michael Samson, Research Director of the Economic Policy and Research Institute (EPRI) and officials; he received Deputy Director-General Mr. Michael Koehler of Brussel-based European Civil Protection and Humanitarian Aid Operation (ECHO) and officials on separate occasions at the Ministry’s Maykhala Hall yesterday morning and afternoon.


In the first meeting with the Fureasu Co., CEO, they discussed the matters relating to a life-long programme for the blinds to have training on medical education and massage/muscle therapies, then the certificates being issued to them after the trainings, coordination and collaboration work with the Myanmar Federation of Persons with Disabilities, the Ministry of Education, the Ministry of Health and Sports and other ministries concerned, and the establishment of Exam Test Board and formulation of training curriculum for issuing the certificates up to international standard.


Meeting with the UNICEF and the EPRI Research Director, the matters in connection with the emergence of necessary laws and policies to devise a social security system which is beneficial to all the people, extension measures of existing social welfare services to the remaining states and regions, formulation of finance strategy on expenditures of social welfare services as a long term plan, advancement of a data analysis programme on social security system, development of human resources, and supervision on project results were discussed.


Then, meeting with the European Civil Protection and Humanitarian Aid Operations (ECHO) officials, they cordially discussed the matters as regards with the resettlement programme being undertaken after the closing down of temporary shelter camps in Kachin and Rakhine following the national strategy plan, coordination and collaboration work with partner countries including ASEAN and international organizations on health, education, vocational and social services while resettlement in place, the work programme on mitigation and management of natural disasters being done by the government as well as by the international non-governmental organizations, and enhancement of effective mutual cooperation. —MNA (Translated by Aungthu Ya)
