Two-storey school building in Kyaukpadaung Township handed over to Education Dept

A ceremony to hand over new school building to education department was held at the Basic Education Middle School (Branch) in Shwaltaw village, Kyaukpadaung Township, Nyaung-U District, Mandalay Region yesterday.

The opening ceremony of two-storey school building donated by Maha Dhammi Karama Presiding Sayadaw in Toronto, Canada and donors was attended by Mandalay Chief Minister and regional ministers.

At the ceremony, donor Sayadaw Bhaddanta Kovida and regional chief minister Dr. Zaw Myint Maung, regional ministers and MPs of regional Hluttaw formally opened the school building and planted a commemorative tree. Afterwards, they also pressed a button to open stone inscription and sprinkled scented water on it. In addition, they toured classrooms in the new facility.

On the occasion, the donor Sayadaw clarified the purpose of the donation of school building. The regional chief minister also gave opening remarks and provided sports gears to the head of the school. The Sayadaw handed over proper documents related to the regional education officer. 

The new facility which is 100 feet long, 30 feet wide and 24 feet high was constructed at an estimated cost of K 150 million. Altogether 500 people including departmental personnel, MPs of Hluttaw, teachers, students and their parents and local residents were in attendance.
