Two arrest for carrying illegal timbers

Two men were arrested along with illegal Padauk timbers at Hway Police checkpoint in Lwetawkham village-track, Tachilek Township, Shan State (East) yesterday.

 

 Forest staff led by U Myo Myint from Tachilek Township Forest Department in collaboration with security members led by Capt.

 

Thet Tun Oo from Tachilek, policemen led by Police inspector Ko Ko Oo from Tachilek Myoma Police Station and officials from Tachilek Township Customs Department and witnesses stopped and searched a vehicle driven by U Win Zaw with U Thaung Myint on board and seized 17 sawn padauk timbers weighing 2 .4806 tons worth about K 1.2 million.

 

The authorities filed charges against U Win Zaw,49, of Minepyin and U Thaung Myint,29, of Taunggyi under the Forest Law for carrying illegal timbers.—Minmoer (Tachilek)
