Trump thinks reports on Kim's illness incorrect

24 April

US President Donald Trump says he believes reports suggesting North Korea's leader Kim Jong Un was gravely ill were incorrect.

Trump said in a news conference on Thursday that he has "a good relationship with Kim Jong Un," and that he hopes "he's OK."

CNN earlier in the week quoted a US government source as saying Kim was in grave danger after undergoing surgery and the US government was closely monitoring the situation.

Trump said he heard the report was based on "old documents." He added that it was "fake news" by CNN.

Trump declined to say if he had been in touch with officials in North Korea.

North Korean media have not reported on Kim's activities for more than a week.
