Tourists throng Myanmar on own motorcars, motorbikes

Nay Pyi Taw 5 March

The Ministry of Hotels and Tourism has been planning schedules for international tourists to visit Myanmar conveniently. The ministry also organized some travel routes for foreign visitors who enter the country through border checkpoints.

14 tourists from France, Italy, Britain, Germany, Argentina and India visited Myanmar on their own motorcars and motorbikes by crossing the Tamu border gate on 21 February under the management of the Ministry of Hotels and Tourism and Osuga Myanmar Travels & Tour Co., Ltd. They also toured Kalay, Mandalay, Bagan, Inle, Namsang, Kengtung and Tachilek for nine days. They departed for Thailand through the Tachilek border checkpoint on 2 March.

Similarly, under the management of the Ministry of Hotels and Tourism and the Osuga Myanmar Travels & Tour Co., Ltd, three foreigners from Germany and Britain visited Myawady, Hpa-an, Toungoo, Inle, Bagan, Kalay and Tamu from 23 February to 2 March. They left for India via the Tamu border gate on 2 March.

Although this is the open season in Myanmar, some globetrotters are continuously entering the country by car or motorbike or bicycle in either groups or crossing alone through border checkpoints to visit significant tourist attraction sites in the country.—MOHT
