Three elephant poachers apprehended in Haigyikyun Tsp

A combined squad consisting of forestry officials and policemen arrested an elephant hunter and two locals along with hunting equipment in a forest reserve in Haigyikyun Township, Ayeyawady Region early this morning.

Upon receiving a tipoff, a joint team led by U Naing Win, a ranger from the Forestry Department together with policemen headed by Sub-police inspector Hlaing Win rushed to a scene in a protected forest area. They found three elephant poachers identified as Aung Lin from Hlaingthayar Township, Yangon Region, Zin Maung Maung (alias) Pauk Shae and Min Zaw from Haigyikyun Township. 

 

They also seized hunting equipment such as one percussion lock firearm, two swords, an arrow, packets of explosive powder, packets of sulfur powder, TNTs, and glass bottles of penicillin containing poison. The three men are being questioned by the police.—Kyaw Thu Hein (Haigyikyun)
