Thailand deports Myanmar migrant workers to Myawaddy

Myawaddy, 16 September

A total of 207 Myanmar migrant workers including 157 men and 50 women were handed over by the Thai authorities to their Myanmar counterpart at No. 2 Myanmar-Thai Friendship Bridge in Myawaddy on 16 September.

The returnees were welcomed by the region Hluttaw Representative U Thant Zin Aung, the district Administrator U Tay Za Aung, deputy Administrator U Aung Chan Nyein and departmental officials, and provided free medical check-ups and other necessary assistance to them to go back homes.

A total of 77531 Myanmar migrant workers have been handed over by Thailand to Myanmar from May 1 to September 16 this year.

Local authorities sent 207 Myanmar migrant workers who entered Myanmar today to quarantine centers in accordance with the guidance of Ministry of Health and Sports amid the outbreak of COVID-19 pandemic.—Htin Lin Aung, IPRD
