Thai gov’t deports three migrant workers to Tachilek

Three migrant workers who were without proper documents were deported by Thai authorities to their Myanmar counterparts. The hand-over took place at Myanmar-Thai Friendship Bridge-2 yesterday.

 


Also present on the occasion were officials from Tachilek District General Administration Department, the Labour Department, the Anti-human Trafficking Police Force, the Disaster Management Department and the Caring and Negotiating Committee for Myanmar Citizens (CNCMC), a Mai Sai-based welfare society. The returnee workers were sent to their places of origin after being provided with health care.

 


Altogether 892 illegal Myanmar migrant workers—587 men, 274 women and 31 children—were handed over by Thailand to Myanmar between the period from January 1 to June 5 this year.—Sai Aung Zaw Lynn
