Sustain water quality for consumption and cultivation

Now is a critical time for the people of Myanmar to face high temperatures and shortages of water triggered by the severe impacts of El Nino. People from not only urban but rural areas are struggling to overcome the challenges of Saturn El Nino, which sparks severe climate change throughout the world, outbreaks of untimely natural disasters, famines and so on.

Myanmar is also facing terrible impacts of El Nio as the country is located in Southeast Asia, not far from the Pacific Ocean, where El Nio is centred. Among the catastrophes, shortages of safe water for consumption and agricultural purposes are a strong blow for people from Myanmar in their daily routines. The supply of water can change most sectors for the better, so efforts are being made to distribute safe water to the people in various ways and means.

Most people forget the value of water at a time when people around the world are enjoying the advantages of water. Actually, when they really encounter shortages of water, they can understand the invaluable water, but they cannot search for lost water resources at that time. Hence, all living beings, especially the global population, have to use water in all drops efficiently.

The whole world is formed of water and ground parts. In this regard, 71 per cent of water and 29 per cent of ground are combined in the world. But, just 3.5 per cent of water among all the massive water volumes is fresh water for consumption. As such, everybody needs to avoid waste of fresh water, not only for themselves but for all.

Climate change firstly destroys the dryness of water resources underground and above ground. Extreme extraction of water from relevant resources can bring danger to society. On the other hand, the operation of agriculture and livestock breeding sectors needs the utilization of water sources in order to make the economic sector booming. As such, it is necessary to take care of losing freshwater resources.

Myanmar possesses 1.7 per cent of fresh water out of the total freshwater sources in the world. Myanmar’s people have a good fortune in consuming fresh water until the whole world faces a shortage of safe water. However, Myanmar people should take care of using fresh water and not decline underground water quality because of using pesticides and chemical fertilizers at crop farms while making efforts to reduce water pollution and waste of water as a national duty for saving society.
