Iran's state media report that a vehicle loaded with explosives hit a bus transporting members of the Guard Corps in Sistan-Baluchistan province near the border with Pakistan on Wednesday.

The bus was carrying about 40 members of the Guard Corps who had finished border security duties.

Foreign Ministry spokesperson Bahram Qassemi vowed retaliation "for the blood of the martyrs of this incident."

Security in the region has been threatened by the ongoing activities of the Sunni extremist group. The militants kidnapped 10 members of the Guard Corps last October. They have also carried out attacks targeting police.
