Prevent deforestation in various ways as much as possible

July 26,2022

UNDER the arrangements of the Ministry of Natural Resources and Environmental Conservation and the Ministry of Defence, seed balls were scattered at deforestation areas of five forest reserves in Union Territory Nay Pyi Taw and Shan State by helicopter on 10 July 2022.

The helicopter dropped 100,000 seed balls to 88.96 acres of three areas in the upper Hsinthe forest reserve in the watershed area of Hsinthe Creek in Tatkon Township. The seed balls were combined with seeds of perennial trees suitable for the region. A total of 200,000 more seed balls were also dropped on east Inlay and west Inlay Forest reserves in the watershed area of Inlay Lake in Nyaungshwe Township in Shan State.

In the monsoon of 2021, the helicopter from the Tatmadaw (Air) was used in dropping 200,000 seed balls on the watershed area of Inlay Lake and around Hsinthe Creek in Tatkon Township in order to take preventive measures against deforestation as much as possible.

The government is making efforts for greening all over the country to ease climate change. Accordingly, the Nay Pyi Taw Union Territory was a tropical area with a lesser amount of rainfall in successive eras. Currently, the thick foliage of forests in the Nay Pyi Taw area creates green environments with high rainfalls. Various ministries and organizations also grow saplings in the area and nurture them for thriving on a yearly basis.

Indeed, an adequate amount of rainfall can ease extreme climate change. It reduces the high temperature of Myanmar’s tropical regions under the arrangements of growing shade trees and perennial crops to maintain moisture in the atmosphere and coolness from breezing air under the shade for the people.

Growing trees play a key role in addressing the degradation of the environment. Such degradation triggers various natural disasters, catastrophic events, loss of biodiversity and deforestation. Truly, the growth of saplings to establish forests is the best way to solve these problems. Actually, natural forests and forest plantations fulfil the needs of the people and are of importance in the conservation of biodiversity.

Myanmar possesses massive land areas with vacant and virgin lands. Global warming gradually reduces the forest lands across the world including Myanmar. Only when all governments and global peoples are to join hands in preventing global warming by growing trees will they free from the life of losing forest areas and facing unfavourable climatic conditions for avoiding the nature of a barren world.
