On the occasion of the 71st Anniversary of the Independence Day of the Republic of the Union of Myanmar, a ceremony to confer bravery titles was held in the Theater Room at the Presidential Palace in Nay Pyi Taw yesterday.
At the ceremony, President U Win Myint presented two Thura title winners for their bravery, and the following are interviews with their family members.
Daw Thuzar Moe, wife of Lt-Col Thura Hla Htoo
I am a Middle School teacher and teaching at No.1, B.E.H.S in Meiktila. I have attended this ceremony to accept the honorary award on behalf of my husband, Lt-Col Thura Hla Htoo. I feel proud of my husband who sacrificed his life for the cause of the State and Tatmadaw because the State has conferred this award with ceremony.
I would be very pleased to see as a family member or as a member of the audience under the stage if my husband had received the award in person on the stage. I feel proud of being a member of his family and he sacrificed his life without having any fear for the sake of the country and the people. I would like to say that not only the Tatmadaw but also all our fellow citizens are duty bound to maintain the perpetuation and eternal peace of the country.
As an ordinary person, I am very proud of the Tatmadaw soldiers who sacrificed their lives for the country and the people. But I feel down-hearted for the loss of my husband and would like to say again that I am very proud of them.
Daw Cho Cho Aung, wife of Lt-Col Thura Thant Zin Oo
I have received this honorary award conferred by the State on behalf of my husband Lt-Col Thura Thant Zin Oo. I feel very proud of my husband who sacrificed his life while performing his duty for the State and Tatmadaw, and feel thankful for the State to confer this award with ceremony. I know that this honorary award is conferred to those who sacrificed their lives for the State. On the auspicious occasion of the anniversary of the Independence of the country, I am very pleased and feel proud of being a wife of a Tatmadaw soldier. I looked upon them as noble men for their sacrifices and bravery in action, and I pay respect to them forever.
