Police eradicates poppy plantations in Shan State

A combined squad led by Police Captain Thet Naing Oo annihilated 8.5 acres of poppy fields about three miles northeast of Phayat in Nyaungshwe Township, Southern Shan State at around 7:45 a.m. on 25 February.

Similarly, local anti-drug teams destroyed 7.35 acres of poppy plantations near Haka Village in Monghsat Township and 4.75 acres of poppy fields near Pansay Village in Namtkham Township in Shan State on the same day.

The Myanmar Police Force has been stepping up campaigns to destroy poppy cultivation throughout the country in cooperation with people, local authorities and civil society organizations.—MOHA
