Police eradicate 25 acres of poppy plantations in eastern Shan State

Mongkhet, 31 December   


A combined team comprising police members from Kengtung and Mongkhet Townships, security force from No. 328 Light Infantry Battalion and departmental officials destroyed nine acres of three feet high blooming poppies near Wamkaung Village in Mangkhet Township, Eastern Shan State on 30 December.


In a similar incident, a combined team comprising policemen from Mongkhet Police Station and security force from No. 328 Light Infantry Battalion also destroyed 16  acres of two feet high blooming poppies near Mamhmwe and  Htawpeku Villages in Mangkhet Township.
