Passenger bus catches fire in Kawkareik Township

No casualties were reported after a passenger bus caught fire in Kawkareik Township, Kayin State on Sunday, according to the Ministry of Home Affairs.

 

The bus bound for Yangon from Myawady with 39 passengers aboard caught fire between mileposts 156 and 157 on the Myawady-Kawkareik Road. The fire is attributed to have started from an overheated engine of the passenger bus which was driven by a man identified as Thura, 35 years old together with his colleague Aung Ye Htut, 24 years of age.

 

The passenger bus has completely been consumed by the fire that had ceased 20 minutes later. The passenger bus driver is being questioned over the fire by the local police station.—MOHA
