One US citizen, two Myanmar nationals detained for marijuana plantation in Mandalay Region Industrial Park

The Central Committee for Drug Abuse Control-CCDAC announced yesterday that a US citizen and two Myanmar people have been detained for operating a marijuana plantation in Myotha Industrial Park in Ngunzun Township, Myingyan District, Mandalay Region.
 

The US citizen is identified as Mr. John Fredric Todoroki, 63, but another man Mr. Alexander Skemp Todoroki, 49, is at large.
 

The two Myanmar nationals namely Shein Latt, 37, and Ma Shun Le Myat Noe, 23, were arrested together with Mr. John Fredric under the Anti-Narcotics Drug and Psychotropic Substances Law, according to the CCDAC.

A combined team comprising of police from Mandalay, officials from the Chemical Inspection Department (Mandalay) and the Food and Drug Administration Department, Drug-Enforcement Division from Mandalay inspected the plantation on 22 April.
 

They found that about 349,300 marijuana plants, 5,200 seedlings, 380 kilos of marijuana seeds, 1,804 g of marijuana oil, one litre of formic acid, 45.6 litres of ethnol liquid, 22.8 litres of alcohol, six litres of Bio Maxs liquid, 5 litres of Acetone, 5 litres of Acetonitrile, 3 litres of Concort Water, 12.5 litres of Methnoal, 500 g of ammonium phosphate and two vehicles, over 270 kilo of marijuana and accessories.
 

According to the ministry, about 20 acres of land for plantation were leased from Mandalay Myotha Industrial Development Public Co.,Ltd (MMID) by U.S. citizens John Fredric, Thomas and Alexandra Skemp.—GNLM
