One man injuries in passenger bus fire

One man was slightly injured after a passenger bus caught fire in Taungtha Township, Mandalay Region on 13 October, according to a source from the Ministry of Home Affairs.


The accident occurred between mileposts 341/3 and 341/4 on the Taungtha-Popa Road near Kyuee Chaung Village in Taungtha Township at about 9 p.m. on 13 October. A passenger bus driven by a man identified as Aung Ye Thu, 26 years old together with his coworker Nay Myo Tun, 23 years of age caught fire. The fire is believed to have started from a wire shock.


The coworker sustained injuries to his chest, abdomen and thigh and has been transferred to a nearby rural hospital. The passenger bus driver is being questioned over fire negligence by the local police.
