One killed, 12 injured as mini-truck falls into ravine

One person has died and twelve others were injured after a mini-truck plunged into a ravine in Teze Township, Sagaing Region on 1 February, the Ministry of Home Affairs reported.

           

A mini-truck carrying 24 members of a Myanmar fold musical ensemble “Hsaing Waing” named “Mya Aung Aung” plummeted into a 50 ft. deep canyon near Tawgyin Village in Teze Township on the YeU-Kalewa Road at around 8:30 p.m. The driver identified as Aung Naing fled the scene of the accident and one man died on the spot and twelve others were hurt in the incident.

           

The injured people have been transferred to a nearby rural hospital. The driver who is still on the run has been charged with reckless driving by the local police station.—MOHA
