A fifty-two year old woman died and two others went missing after a boat sank in the Donthami River in Paung Township, Mon State on 23 February, according to the Ministry of Home Affairs.
The tragic incident occurred yesterday morning when a group of six people went to another location to work by boat. The boat sank while attempting to approach the shore and 3 people including the boat operator swam back to the shore. One woman was found dead in the river and two women went missing in the incident.
The search operation for the missing child is ongoing and the corpses were transferred to a nearby public hospital. A probe has been ordered to investigate into the case.—MOHA
